Sustainable 2Wheels is a demonstration of contemporary bicycles, electric bicycles, scooters and motorcycles, particularly suited for urban transport. Visitors will have ample opportunity to test the vehicles on show. The demonstration is also open to companies that wish to present modern, innovative components or accessories for urban 2Wheels. As a special feature of this year’s Sustainable 2Wheels, ETRA aims at showing a variety of solutions for (electric) cycle parking and cycling infrastructure facilities.

Sustainable 2Wheels takes place on Tuesday 18 September 2012 on the esplanade of the European Parliament in Brussels from 9 a.m. till 5 p.m. in the framework of the European Commission’s Mobility Week, see www.mobilityweek.eu

Morning

• 09:00 – 10:00 Bikers' Breakfast
• 09:30 – 10:00 Official Inauguration with interview of MEPs on 2Wheels in EU policies
• 10:00 – 15:00 Demonstration of vehicles on the esplanade, presentation & information on sustainable mobility projects & organisation in Luxembourg station
• 10:00 – 13:30 Short bike tours guided by ProVelo
  With start and finish at the European Parliament and passing the European Commission and Council. The route is the one that European policy makers would effectively use should they do their service trips by bike. There will be a number of bikes available.
• 10:00 – 10:30 Bike tour 1
• 11:00 – 11:30 Bike tour 2
• 12:00 – 12:30 Bike tour 3
• 13:00 – 13:30 Bike tour 4

Afternoon

• 13:05 – 14:00 Lunch
• 15:00 – 15:00 End of the demonstration
• 15:00 – 16:30 Public hearing on sustainable mobility
  Organised by the TRAN Committee, this public hearing on sustainable mobility will take place in the European Parliament (room JAN 2Q2). Representatives of the cities of Bologna, Vilnius and Gent will testify for the TRAN Committee on their experiences in making transport more sustainable.
