Since 2015 it is allowed for cyclists to cycle ahead or to turn to the left or the right during red lights at traffic lights with special traffic sign. Some videos now explaining the advantages, i.e. for the increase in safety of cyclists.

In November 2013, the Danish Ministry of Transport launched a pilot project at 33 selected junctions, which was evaluated at the end of 2015 and concluded that there were no safety problems with cyclists’ right turns on red at the selected intersections.

Green Wave
In most cities the Green Waves are planned for supporting fluent car traffic. In Copenhagen this principle was changed: there were established green waves for cyclists in three streets: Norrebrogade, Osterbrogade and Farimagsgade.

Measures to incrase cycling
For the Norrebrogade it was decided to put it on a "Road diet" what ment to downsize it, to make it less attractive for cars. In return the cycle tracks width had been doubled in some places (up to 4 m) and further cyclist- and pedestrian-friendly changes in street spaces had been realised.
